Who Is A Westminster College Student-Athlete? Dala Freesmeier, the Edward Jones broker to Westminster’s retirement plan, is a former Blue Jay student-athlete.

Freesmeier, who was a business finance and business marketing major at Westminster, was a record setting Blue Jay volleyball player. She earned all-conference honors in each of her four seasons, left with eight school records including career records for kills (1,344) and block (720), and played on three conference championship teams and the school’s only NCAA qualifier in 1999.

While her playing career is as memorable as any, Freesmeier left Westminster with a lifetime of memories on and off the volleyball court. Getting to play volleyball was a big part of her decision to attend Westminster, but her experience and the relationships she formed at Westminster have been life altering. Freesmeier met her husband, Justin, at Westminster. Ironically, Justin is a former all-conference baseball player who played on a pair of conference championship teams and NCAA tournament teams in 2000 and 2001.

Freesmeier pointed out that volleyball provided her the opportunity to develop values and leadership skills that have helped her in her career, but there were benefits off the court. "The college experience outside of volleyball was just as important and enjoyable as my time playing volleyball," said Freesmeier. "I have many wonderful memories and relationships, including my wedding, which were formed right here on campus.” Dala and Justin are the parents of a daughter, Emory.
