The Westminster Women’s Soccer Team blew through the Eureka Red Devils on Homecoming Weekend, winning 4-0 Saturday night. It was also senior night for three athletes on Westminster: Chelsea Cole, Katy Braden, and Courtney Howe.
The game was scoreless until the Red Devils of Eureka fouled in the box, giving LaTayisah Ousley (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) the opportunity to score on a penalty kick. She put the ball above the goalkeeper’s head, giving the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead thirty minutes in. The Blue Jays scored twice more in the first half. First, Katie Seyer (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) put in a goal from Lauren Dolniak (Wildwood, Mo./Eureka), and with three minutes left in the half, Nanyima Njie (Bakoteh, Gambua/UWC) put in a goal from Ousley.
With fifteen minutes left in the game, Westminster’s goalkeeper, Courtney Howe (Ladue, Mo./Ladue) came in to play as an attacker. Howe scored her first goal in the 79th minute with a pass from Eileen Koppy (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh).
Senior Katy Braden had two shots on goal and senior Chelsea Cole played for most of the game.
The Blue Jays hit the field again Sunday to make up the rained out match up with Blackburn College at 1:00 p.m.
