Those students thinking about transferring to the new Westminster College at Mesa campus or prospective students and their parents who want to learn more about campus life at Westminster should attend a workshop scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at One Oh One, 101 West Main Street in Mesa, Az.
Students are encouraged to bring their transcripts since the workshop will evaluate course work and discuss the various student life opportunities on campus.
Westminster College at Mesa will host the event, which is available at no charge. Parents are invited to attend with their students.
The workshop will be presented by Dr. David Jones, Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor of Psychology. Dr. Jones is also the faculty sponsor of the College's most prestigious national academic honor society, Alpha Chi.
He teaches a variety of classes in psychology, including Psychology as a Social Science, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Psychology of Religion and Psychology of Personality. He has also taught courses in applied psychology, relationships, a Westminster Seminar on psychology and the media and a travel course exploring the culture of Denmark.
His scholarly achievements include two published books, three published contributions to instructor CD-ROMs for psychology texts, six published papers and thirty presentations at professional meetings. He has been named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who in America Education and Who's Who in America and received the Westminster College President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. He holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Southern California.
Classes at the new Westminster campus in Mesa will begin in the fall of 2013. The campus, known as The Mesa Center for Higher Education, is a 53,000 square foot facility, formerly occupied by the Mesa City Court building, located in the heart of downtown Mesa at 245 West 2nd Street. Westminster will share the space, currently under renovation, with Wilkes University.
