Mesa area prospective students and their parents have two upcoming opportunities to find out what the new Westminster College at Mesa campus has to offer them, including an automatic $8,000 Mesa Educates U grant for students in the inaugural Fall 2013 class at Westminster's new Mesa campus.
"Welcome to Westminster" events will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 15, and Saturday, July 20, at 238 West 2nd Street, Mesa, AZ 85201.
Westminster presenters will explain about enrollment and application details, financial aid basics, academic success, and student registration for the fall semester.
Recently hired Mesa Director of Student Life, Jonathan Myers, will talk about student life on the new Westminster at Mesa campus and within the Mesa community.
As a part of his duties, Myers will advise student organizations on campus and help facilitate Westminster's innovative new Price Leadership Program, which will provide each student with a thoughtful assessment and collection of his or her coursework and experiences both inside and outside the classroom throughout the college years that can be given to prospective employers as an outline of what strong leaders of character they have become as Westminster graduates.
Food will be served at both welcoming events and gifts from several local restaurants, shops and businesses in the Mesa area will be given away.
Students who are interested in considering joining the inaugural class at Westminster at Mesa may find out more information at www.westminster-mo.edu/go/mesa or by contacting Mesa Director of Admissions Hillarie Price at 480-747-3863 or Hillarie.Price@westminster-mo.edu.
New Mesa students can apply online at www.westminster-mo.edu/go/apply. Those who apply by June 30 receive the guaranteed $8,000 award.
New Mesa students and their parents are also invited to join Westminster students, faculty and staff at the ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, for the new Westminster campus building, the Mesa Center for Higher Education, located at 245 West 2nd Street in downtown Mesa.
Westminster classes will begin on the Mesa campus August 22.
Westminster College is one of five liberal arts institutions that were selected by Mesa city officials after a nationwide search to expand higher education opportunities in the region through the formation of a higher education consortium of colleges and universities that would each offer different programs. Westminster was selected because of its strong academic reputation, the high graduation and success rate of its alumni and its rich history.
Westminster will share classroom space with Wilkes University at the Mesa Center for Higher Education. Programs offered by Westminster at the new Mesa campus will include international business, transnational studies, environmental science, environmental studies and English majors and pre-law and health professions minors.
