Tyler Walker

Class of 2014, Business Administration
U.S. Space and Rocket Center
Huntsville, AL

US Space and Rocket CenterTyler Walker’s summer job could have been described as “out of this world.”  Since Tyler’s a sophomore, he can’t technically call his experience an internship, but was still an incredible experience.

This summer, Tyler was a team leader at Aviation Challenge at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  Aviation Challenge is a military-focused camp that works on leadership and teamwork.

Tyler described his responsibilities as such: “We teach every kid what training would look like if they were to become a fighter pilot for the Navy or Air Force. We have Fighter jet simulators and we use those to simulate air to air combat and air to ground combat. It's a five day camp and over the course of the week, we do several missions. 80% of our activities are outside so we do a good deal of stuff without a roof over our heads.”

The best part of the job for Tyler? It’s a life-altering experience for everyone involved.  In fact, he says, “personal growth just happens on its own accord.”
