The US Commerical Service has a number of unpaid internship opportunities both domestically and abroad.  The governmental organization promotes trade.  You can find internships all over the world such as in Madrid, Spain, Australia, South Africa, or Argentina.  Check out the full list of countries at their home site.

World Vision International is a Christian-based organization that lists out opportunities in Global Development.

www.worldteach.org aims to place recent grads (and others) with an interest in teaching in classrooms throughout the world.  Positions are voluntary, though some year-long programs offer a small, montly stipend. Some programs have fees attached to them. Both year-long and summer only programs.

Participating in a research project abroad is a great way to experience another culture and gain experience in your field.  Start looking for volunteer and internship opportunities by exploring these sites:

The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences offers both paid Research Experiences for Undergraduates and unpaid volunteer internships.

There are REU's (National Science Foundation - funded research programs for undergraduates - US Citizens only. ): that take place internationally.  For instance, there are REU's in  Ghana, Taiwan, or Puerto Rico.  Or start searching at the main REU Site.

The University of Central Florida offers a two-year REU program for US citizens, the first summer taking place in Orlando, the second one abroad.  Find out more here.
