Interview Resources
Interviewing for jobs and internships is an important step that is often overlooked by applicants in the process of finding employment. The Office of Career Services has many available resources to help in this area.

workshop is held every year that focuses on Interviewing Skills, where such current topics as behavioral interviewing are covered. Occasionally employers present their viewpoints during these sessions and upperclass men and women often share experiences they have had recently during the interview process.

Video-taped mock interviews are also offered for any student wishing to enhance their interviewing abilities. After a 30-minute interview, the video tape is played back for the student and professional staff member to critique. Feedback from students taking advantage of this service has been extremely favorable.

Numerous free handouts and publications on the subject of interviewing are available for students in the Richard Career Resource Center. Several books may also be checked out from the Richard Career Resource Center.

Tips on How to Dress for Success
It does not matter if you are going for an informational, an interview, meeting with a recruiter either internally or externally, or meeting with your boss’s boss- dress to impress.  What people see in front of them (i.e. how are you dressed) influences a person’s perception of you and perception is an important factor to success in any work environment.

5 Interview Basics

Thank god there are a few basics that you can take to any interview, regardless of the environment or the people.

4 Ways to Prepare for An Interview
I have been through some crazy interviews for jobs.  I’ve been through interviews where the employer was forced by luck of the draw to interview but was clearly not interested, I’ve been through 8-hour interviews with 6 different people, I’ve flown to Vegas on short notice for an interview, and I’ve been in an interview where the only question I was asked was, “So, do you have any questions about the job?”  In my experience, the only common denominators in job interviews are that they can be stressful and unpredictable.
