Professional staff are available to meet individually with students to discuss any issues related to career development. Students often seek assistance in the following areas:
-selecting a major
-developing a focus within a particular career field
-writing a resume
-preparing for an interview
-learning job-searching strategies.
Several career assessments are also available for students to take and are often used in conjunction with meeting with a career counselor. Costs of these assessments range from no charge to a minimal fee. Some of the assessments available are the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, the Self-Directed Search, the Strong Interest Inventory, and SIGI3. The Director of the Office of Career Services is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and is qualified to interpret these assessments.
In addition, over 150 career-related books are available for check out in the Career Resource Library. FREE handouts are also available for students on a variety of topics ranging from "Writing a Resume" to "What can I do with a major in...?" NumerousFREE publications with current career-related information are also distributed to students every year.
