Assistance is available from the Center for Career Development staff to help students write a resume and other business correspondence. It is recommended that students first attend a resume writing workshop or stop by and pick up a handout of general guidelines before putting together their first draft.
Many books on the subject of resume/cover letter writing may be checked out from the Richard Career Resource Center, and examples of resumes are also available for students to have for reference.
After a rough draft of a resume/cover letter has been developed, it is recommended that students have the document critiqued. This is a crucial step that cannot be emphasized enough. Remember that the resume should be a document that reflects an individual's strengths and experiences as they relate to a chosen field.
