2010 Kappa Alpha Theta Grand Convention

Held during the summer of every even-numbered year, the purpose of Kappa Alpha Theta’s Grand Convention is to not only elect Theta's Grand Council, establish laws and policies, and determine qualifications for membership, but also give a chance to recognize many Kappa Alpha Theta Chapters for their hard work and many accomplishments. President, Rachel Drennan, and four other active members represented the Epsilon Iota Chapter at the 2010 Kappa Alpha Theta Grand Convention held in Tucson, Arizona.

The Epsilon Iota Chapter excelled at the 2010 Kappa Alpha Theta Grand Convention, as they were recognized five times throughout the entire event. The following honors and awards were presented to the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta:

• Golden Kite Chapter Award – The Epsilon Iota Chapter was one of eighteen Kappa Alpha Theta Collegiate Chapters across the nation to receive this high honor. The title of “Golden Kite Chapter” is given to recognize chapters who are functioning at an excellent level.
• Founders Award Finalist – The Founders Award is the most prestigious award, given to a chapter that conveys overall excellence. Although the women of the Epsilon Iota Chapter did not win this award, they were proud to be one of the six Kappa Alpha Theta Collegiate Chapter finalists for this award. Congratulations to the Alpha Mu Chapter at the University of Missouri for receiving this prestigious award!
• Scholarship Award – The Epsilon Iota Chapter was one of fourteen Kappa Alpha Theta Collegiate Chapters to receive this national award, given for receiving top grades during the 2008-2010 biennium.
• District IX Greatest Green Programming Award – The Epsilon Iota Chapter is the proud 2010 recipient of the District IX Greatest Green Programming Award. Each of the fourteen District IX Collegiate Chapters was eligible for this award, which was presented to the chapter who initiated and successfully implemented a new program aimed to raise awareness about our environment.
• Excellence in Finance Award Runner-Up – The Epsilon Iota Chapter was the runner-up for the Excellence in Finance Award, an award given to recognize a chapter for excellence in the finance and budget division.
