Philanthropy

Zeta Zeta began its philanthropy efforts the second day of recruitment by having current members, along with potential new members, stuff teddy bears for the children at the Missouri School for the Deaf. Each bear came with a birth certificate and a special message was written on the back. After recruitment, members presented the bears to the very excited children at MSD. The Missouri School for the Deaf has become our chapter's main philanthropic focus. Each month, as a chapter, we get together to make small crafts that we later give to each elementary aged child at the school. It is always a very exciting time and the children are always very happy to see us!
One of Zeta Zeta's largest philanthropy events annually is the "Kappa Klassic" Golf Tournament. In 2008, the Kappas had a great time with their family, friends, and community members raising money for their national philanthropies. The women of Zeta Zeta were able to raise $4700 to give to Reading Is Fundamental and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation!

The women of Zeta Zeta team up with the men of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity annually for our Easter Egg Hunt. Over 100 children from the community usually attend the event. Together, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Theta stuff thousands of Easter eggs for the children to find on Westminster’s campus. The Easter Egg bunny is also able to join us during the event!
Zeta Zeta is a fierce competitor while proudly supporting the philanthropies of other fraternities and sororities at Westminster College. The Kappas participate in Phi Delta Theta’s philanthropy week, Sigma Chi’s Derby Daze (2008 Winners), Beta Theta Pi’s Beta Saves the World week, Delta Tau Delta’s Bleed Purple week, Greek week, and Homecoming week—just to name a few! In 2008, Kappa Kappa Gamma won first place during Homecoming week and was able to donate the winnings to a fellow sister to cover medication costs.
The women of Zeta Zeta do many more small service activities throughout the year, including blood drives, clean the forest visits, Into the Streets, hosting community soup kitchens, and whatever other activities fellow sisters want to participate in as a chapter! Zeta Zeta not only supports chapter, philanthropy projects, but also dedicates much of their extra time to community service outside of Kappa. These women excel in community service and do everything they can to ensure a tradition of leadership in service to others.
