FAQ
How do I sign up?
Students who live in these apartments must be juniors or seniors as of August  1, 2008. An "Intent to Rent" form must be signed at the Office of Residential and Greek Life, 327 W. 7th St.   Forms are available March 5, 2008.  Deadline to sign up will be on March 14 at 4:00 p.m.

After sign up has closed on March 14, students will be notified whether or not they received a room/apartment on or before March 19. Students who are selected to live in the apartments will be required to sign a lease in the Business Office, Westminster Hall, Room 104, by 4 p.m.on April 8, 2008. A one-month security deposit ($380) must be paid at the time of signing the lease.

Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed due to safety, health, sanitary, and noise considerations for all residents.

Is smoking prohibited?
Yes.  Due to health and safety issues and maintenance costs, smoking is not allowed in the apartments. Same policy as Residential Houses.

Are coed living arrangements allowed?
If a group of students sign up together, you may mix genders at your descretion. If we group you, we will either get everyone to agree to the arrangement or not mix at all. Fill out the roommate matching sheets and we will do our best to group every student by their preference. If you have 2 or 3 people, you will be required to accept 1 or 2 person(s).

What is the maximum number of occupants allowed per apartment?
Each apartment will be housed with four occupants.  The College, however, will entertain advance requests for more than four. If more than one person occupies one bedroom, your cost will go up slightly due to increased wear and tear on the entire apartment.

What is the monthly duration of the lease?
If you are scheduled to graduate in December, we will arrange a 5-month lease. The same is true if you enroll in January.  If you graduate and want to stay in the apartment until May to work in the area, make a special request to Student Life. There should be no need to sublet. You may also rent for 12 months if you desire.

What are the payment arrangements?
Your rent amount will be billed to your account each semester in the same manner as the residence halls and residential houses.  Financial aid for apartment housing is treated the same as living in the residence halls. You are responsible for paying utilities monthly.  Garbage and sewer utilities are paid by the college.

Are waterbeds allowed?
Waterbeds are prohibited in the apartments.

What are the check out requirements?
You will be required to completely clean the apartment upon departure and be checked out by your Apartment Coordinator.  Once you have received your check out and you have returned your key to your Coordinator, your deposit will be refunded to you.

Can non-Westminster students lease apartments?
The college will only lease to current enrolled students, recent graduates for one semester and perhaps a limited number of college employees. Students have first priority over employees of the college.

Can furniture be stored over the summer break?
Like residential houses, if you rent an apartment as a junior and will be returning as a senior, you will be allowed to keep your furniture in the apartment over the summer if you pay utilities for those months. Your furniture must be located to the center of the room and covered with a tarp or sheet. We assume no responsibility for lost or damanged property.
