What can I do as a faculty/staff member?
Help your students
reflect on the monthly issues
to see the connections between global issues and their role as an engaged citizen. Encourage them to ask the "big questions" by connecting the issues to coursework.
Model the mission statement by getting involved and
serving alongside our students
at one of the many service projects.
Encourage your students
to get involved. The great thing about this project is that each person can choose how he or she wants to get involved. For example, they can volunteer at service projects, participate civically by voting and holding their leaders accountable, make their voices heard on the issues that they care about, and engage in the issues by discussing them with their peers.
Submit your service hours
using on-line reporting form (go to WC users page and click on Service Hours Reporting Form. Be sure to click submit after you have filled in your information).
Donate prizes
to support and recognize volunteers. For example, a home cooked dessert, movie tickets, a trip to Columbia, etc...
Attend and or organize
speakers and events
that educate and raise awareness on local and global issues.
Work with the
Office of Community Action & Service-Learning
to organize a one-time service project for your class and/or office.
