Westminster College is committed to creating a learning and living environment that is free from discrimination and celebrates the diversity of each and every one of the members of our campus community. Like all college campuses, Westminster is not immune to intolerance, problems of racism, religious intolerance, sexism, and other actions and / or words that reflect disregard to our campus values of fairness, integrity, respect, and responsibility.
Intolerance occurs when an individual or individuals express themselves inappropriately through words, or actions against any person or group. Such inappropriate words or actions perpetuate discrimination, stereotypes, harassment, and exclusion of others based on:
- Religious affiliation
- Socioeconomic status
- Physical appearance
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identification
- Mental or physical ability
- Any other identity or social categories
Acts of Intolerance include:
- Racial, religious, or sexual preference bias expressed through words or actions
- Hate crimes
- Hate speech
- Any other actions or words that detract from the College's mission of providing a learning and living environment that is free from discrimination based upon the values of integrity, fairness, responsibility and respect.
You can use My Voice to report any incidents of intolerance and bias at Westminster College even when you are not the victim or specifically targeted by the act of intolerance or bias. You can make a report based on what you have heard or seen happen or on what has been said to or by a friend, class mate, professor, staff member, or random stranger in our campus.
