The Christmas season is fast approaching and with it the joyous anticipation of the traditional activities that are a part of the season. Westminster College’s Festival of Lessons and Carols is one such event that people throughout Mid-Missouri look forward to attending. Patterned after the festival held at Cambridge University, England, the service is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The service includes the reading of nine scriptures pertaining to the Christmas story and carols sung and performed by various vocal and instrumental ensembles. This year’s service will include Celtic Harpist Melissa Purvis, the First Presbyterian Church, Mexico, Handbell Choir, the Westminster College Choirs, and the Callaway Singers. A reception will follow the service in the Churchill Memorial Museum.
